If you’re planning a trip to Canada, you might be wondering if you need a passport to go there. If so, I’m here to help! Read on for more information about how to get a passport and what documents are required of U.S. citizens traveling with children or spouses who aren’t U.S. citizens.

If you plan on traveling to Canada by land, your original birth certificate or a certified copy is the easiest way to establish citizenship and identity.

If you’re traveling to Canada by land, you’ll need to prove your citizenship and identity. You can do this with a certified copy of your original birth certificate or Naturalization Certificate (if applicable)- canada travel.

Your passport is the easiest way to prove that you’re not a terrorist, criminal, fugitive or threat to the nation’s security.

The Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) requirement.

The Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) requires all U.S. citizens entering the U.S. at sea or land borders to have a passport book, Passport Card, Enhanced Driver’s License/Enhanced ID Card, or Trusted Traveler Program card (NEXUS, SENTRI or FAST).

If you are traveling by air and your destination is Canada or Mexico, you do not need to carry proof of citizenship with you as long as your name matches the one on your airline ticket and the information on it does not appear in any databases that would prevent you from boarding the carrier.

A passport is required for all air travel to Canada

You must carry a valid passport as proof of citizenship when you travel to Canada by air. If your trip involves a sea, land, or air travel component, you must meet the requirements for all three modes of transportation.

If you are traveling to Canada by land or sea only:

  • A passport card can be used instead of a traditional passport booklet (this is limited to non-motorized vehicles though).
  • An enhanced driver’s license (EDL) that meets both provincial and federal requirements may also be used as proof of identity and citizenship when crossing into Canada by land or sea; in some cases it can be used in conjunction with another government-issued photo identification document such as a birth certificate, social insurance number card or health card without an expiry date. You should check with us about EDLs before making any plans for travel into and out of Canada.

Canadian entry requirements for children under 18 years of age.

Children under 18 years of age must have a passport to travel to Canada by air. They also need a passport if they are travelling to Canada by land or sea.

You need proper documentation to go to Canada

If you’re planning on traveling to Canada by air, it’s important that you have the proper documentation. A passport is required for all air travel. If you’re planning on taking a land route and/or sea route, though, different documents will be needed- canada travel.

If you’re just crossing over the border by car or bus (i.e., not flying), then a birth certificate may be enough to get through customs at the checkpoint in your state or province of residence before continuing onto Canada. You may need additional documentation depending upon how far away from home base (whatever city/state) it’ll be when leaving our country—for example: if going into another state first before heading northward toward our neighbors up north; if crossing over multiple borders within one day; etcetera…

The answer to the question under consideration is a resounding yes. You must have a passport in order to travel to Canada from anywhere outside of the United States and its territories. If you don’t have one, there are ways around it but it will take some time for them to process your application for one.
