Pine Creek Lake sits at a 9,100 foot elevation and is located just outside of Livingston, Montana. The air is absolutely pure and the water totally clear. At sunrise, the light hits the surrounding mountains perfectly. If there is a single place that sums up the beauty of Montana, it’s here.

I’m in love with Montana. For other states I have admiration, respect, recognition, even some affection. But with Montana it is love. And it’s difficult to analyze love when you’re in it.” – John Steinbeck

The lake has several flat areas around it where someone can easily pitch a tent. The hike up to it is long and has all sorts of terrain, but is still easy enough for a beginner hiker. Very few people ever go up there, so the area is perfect for a day or two of simple admiration of beauty.
